מפגש עם מראה מצרית עתיקה הוביל אותי למסע ציורי של חפצים ארכיאולוגיים. אני עובדת בסדרות שעליהן נערמו שכבות עבר ונטמנו זיכרונות וסיפורים אנושיים
מעסיקים אותי ערכים חברתיים ומגדריים שנשארו בעינם מאז ימי קדם ואשר גם היום מייצרים תנועה בין עבר להווה, בין פנטזיה למציאות ובין מיתוס לשבירתו
גוף עבודותיי כולל סדרות תכשיטים, שהוגדלו פי עשרה מממדיהם בפועל. באמצעותם ביקשתי לייצר תהליך של מפגש; מעבר בין מציאות לפנטזיה, על ידי הצגת התנועה מפתיחה לסגירה של סוגרי התכשיטים
הנשים בציוריי נעות בין פסל בדמות צלמית עתיקה לבין אישה בעלת סממנים תרבותיים עכשוויים. החיבור בין התקופות השונות ברא יצורי כלאיים מפתיעים, בלתי צפויים מלאים באבסורד והומור
ציורי הסיכות והמגינים משקפות את תחושות הפגיעות והצורך בהגנה. בסיכות הנוי התמימות לכאורה, גלום פוטנציאל הדקירה והן צוירו על אבן בזלת איתנה וחזקה
מרתק אותי העיסוק בחומר ועל כן ניסיתי להעביר לבד את מהות החומרים: מתכות וחומרים יקרים כמו: זהב ואבני חן
Artist Statement
An encounter with an ancient Egyptian mirror led me on a pictorial journey of archaeological objects. I created a series of paintings in which layers of the past pile up and bury human memories and stories.
I am concerned with social and gender values that have remained the same since ancient times which even today, create a movement between past and present, between fantasy and reality, and between myth and myth breaking.
The body of my works includes a jewelry series, all enlarged ten times their actual dimensions. I sought to create a transition between reality and fantasy, by showing the movement from open to closure of the jewelry.
The Bulls and the War Helmet series deals with breaking conventions such as the strong bull, the sacred stud bull, with sensual lips and a huge flower placed as a decoration between its horns.
The women in my paintings moves between a statue in the form of an ancient figurine and a woman with contemporary cultural symbols. The connection between the different periods created surprising, unexpected hybrid creatures full of absurdity and humor.
The paintings of the pins and shields reflect the feelings of vulnerability and the need for protection. The apparently innocent decorative pins have the potential of stabbing and they were drawn on a firm and strong basalt stone.
I am fascinated by working with materials and therefore I tried to convey the essence of precious metals such as gold and other gemstones.

About
Mirit lives and creates in Tel Aviv.
She studied sculpture at the "Avni" school and at the "Maimad - for visual art" school with the artists Drora Domini, Sigal Primor, Simcha Speizer and Yair Garboz.
In recent years she has been engaged in painting and delving into painting ancient objects that deal with social and gender status symbols.
